Dear friends of the Olympic family,

After 64 years (1948), the City of London will once again be hosting the Olympic Games in 2012. Since the 1948 Olympics, the Olympic world has experienced a (r)evolution in the field of infrastructure, technology and many other areas of sport.

During this period, which spans more than 50 years, there have also been enormous achievements as regards communication and transport: one of the highlights is undoubtedly the train link, via the Channel Tunnel, between the European continent and Great Britain.

That is why the Belgian Olympic and Interfederal Committee, in collaboration with the government of our country, wishes to make some special efforts to grant your delegation or individual sports federations/athletes of your country every possible facility in order to organise trainings in Belgium during the period between 2009 and 2012.

Belgium’s central situation, with Brussels as the capital of Europe, the proximity of London by high speed train (1 hour 51 minutes) and airplane (1 hour), its excellent sports infrastructures and entirely comparable climate to London will ensure that your delegation and athletes will be able to prepare themselves in Belgium in the best possible manner.

Other assets of our country include the highly appreciated quality of its accommodation and food, its excellent medical facilities and above all, the friendly and hospitable nature of the Belgians themselves, who also speak several languages.

What’s more, the very competitive price of our offer will also benefit your delegation.

We thus would like to put our services and hospitality at the disposal of your Olympic athletes and teams, who are preparing for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

We would like to thank you for your confidence and remain at your disposal for any additional information that you might require.

Wishing you the best of success in your preparation for the 2012 Games.
